What is the difference between the BRAVIA CAM and other cameras?

BRAVIA CAM supports not only Video Chat but also Sony’s unique sensing features, which will be available through future firmware updates.

How many cameras can be connected to the TV?

For best performance, attach the camera to the center of the top of the TV. Be sure to peel off the protective film on the front of the camera before use—otherwise, image quality will be affected.

Note: If your BRAVIA CAM is the included CMU-BC1M model, please follow the Setup Guide for attachment instructions.

How do I use the Camera cover switch?

Slide the Camera cover switch to open or close the shutter.
• A: Close
• B: Open

Make sure the shutter is open when using camera functions.

Do I need to change any settings when connecting BRAVIA CAM to the TV?

No, you can use camera sensing functions without changing settings. If you want to adjust options, such as turning off the BRAVIA CAM lamp:
On the remote control, press the Quick Settings ( or ) button → Settings → Remotes and accessories → BRAVIA CAM.

Notes:
• Camera sensing features will be added through a future software update.
• If your BRAVIA TV supports these features, you’ll see the Proximity Alert option in BRAVIA CAM settings. To check: press the Quick Settings ( or ) button on your remote → go to Settings → Remotes and accessories → BRAVIA CAM → Proximity Alert.

What is the sensing range of BRAVIA CAM?

BRAVIA CAM can detect up to approximately 7 meters.

The distance recognized by the camera sensing function is inaccurate. What should I do?

Detection accuracy may vary depending on the camera angle or the position of people between the TV and the camera. Adjust the angle or camera position to improve results.

The camera is detecting objects (photos, dolls, animals) as people. How can I fix this?

Objects resembling a face or human shape may trigger recognition. Remove such items from the camera’s view when using sensing functions.

Where can I find the Auto adjust Picture & Sound settings?

If supported, the option appears in Quick Settings or Picture settings:
• Picture settings → Auto adjust with camera
• Settings → Display & Sound → Picture → Auto adjust Picture & Sound
• Settings → Display & Sound → AmbientOptimization Pro → Auto adjust with camera / Auto adjust according to viewing position
Note: Not all TV models support this feature. If unavailable, update your TV software (for 2022 models).

Can I customize how Auto adjust Picture & Sound recognizes people?

Yes. On the remote control, press Quick Settings ( or ) → navigate through the above menu paths to adjust recognition options.

Why does Auto adjust Picture & Sound sometimes not work?

• The feature only works with stationary people (not while moving).
• Poor lighting or certain environments may prevent accurate detection.

Why can’t I change Brightness, Voice Emphasis, or Balance after disabling the camera feature?

If the camera is disconnected or the shutter is closed while Auto adjust Picture & Sound is ON, those settings are disabled. Turn OFF the camera-related options to regain control:
• Quick Settings ( or ) → Auto adjust Picture & Sound / Auto adjust according to viewing position

Do picture and sound values return to normal after Auto adjust is turned off?

No. Once adjusted, values remain as set. To restore the original values, note them beforehand and reset manually.

Settings affected include: Brightness, Color, Sound Balance, Voice Emphasis.

How do I activate Gesture Control?

Use the supplied remote control:

Quick Settings ( or ) → Settings → System → Gesture Control → Enable.

Why are my gestures not recognized?

Gestures may fail if:
• The camera shutter is closed.
• You are too close/far from the camera.
• Hand is too close to face/body.
• Movements are too fast or exaggerated.
• Lighting/background interferes.
• Camera view is blocked.
• Another object’s movement is prioritized.
If issues persist, unplug and reconnect the camera.

How do I enable Proximity Alert?

If supported, the option appears under:

Quick Settings ( or ) → Settings → Remotes and accessories → BRAVIA CAM → Proximity Alert.

Why is the Proximity Alert not accurate?

• Room brightness or layout differences may affect detection.
• Alert won’t work if a person is too close to the camera.
• Alert won’t work if a person is not facing the camera.

Why is no video showing in the Video Chat app (only audio plays)?

The shutter may be closed. Open it using the Camera cover switch.

Why does the other person see my video, but I don’t see it on my TV?

Check that the BRAVIA CAM shutter is open.

Note: Third-party apps cannot detect the shutter state since it uses Sony’s own protocol.

What does the white LED indicator mean?

• Lights up during Video Chat and when camera sensing functions are active.
• To turn it off: Quick Settings ( or ) → Settings → Remote and accessories → ACCESSORY CAMERA "BRAVIA CAM" → Camera activity LED → Off.
Note: Information from camera sensing functions is never transmitted outside the TV.

Why is the LED on even when the shutter is closed?

The LED shows the TV recognizes the camera, though no sensing data is collected. You can disable the LED in settings (see above).

Why does the camera image flash (hunting) in preview/selfie apps?

This may occur in dark rooms. Increase brightness in the surroundings.

Why is there white noise in the image?

Noise increases in low light. Brighten the room to reduce it.

Why does the image flicker?

Although BRAVIA CAM has auto anti-flicker, it may fail. To reset:

Quick Settings ( or ) → Settings → Remote and accessories → ACCESSORY CAMERA "BRAVIA CAM" → Clear Data

What should I do if the BRAVIA CAM update fails?

• Ensure the camera is connected properly (USB cable for optional, magnetic touchpoint for included).
• Restart TV, reconnect camera, and try again.
• Do not disconnect the camera during update.

Why doesn’t the camera respond after removing it during an update?

Removing the camera interrupts recognition. Reboot the TV to restore. Avoid removing BRAVIA CAM during updates.

Why does the BRAVIA CAM get warm during use?

It may become warm depending on conditions. This is normal and safe.
When should I use ‘Clear Data’ in BRAVIA CAM settings?

This resets all sensing data and returns functions to their original state. Use when you want to restore factory defaults.

Is the BRAVIA CAM available with all Sony BRAVIA TVs at Rangs?

No. BRAVIA CAM is available with select models only. Please check product details or contact Rangs showrooms.

Does Rangs provide warranty and after-sales support for BRAVIA CAM in Bangladesh?
